Understanding the Anatomy

Before diving into the common uses of a scissor lift, it’s helpful to have a basic understanding of the machine’s anatomy. Essentially a scissor lift consists of a working platform, a raising and lowering system, a safety harness, wheels, and controls. They can be powered by gasoline or other fuel types or with electricity.

1. Getting Workers to a Higher Level

These machines are designed to move up and down and have a working platform that can carry one or two workers at a time. This makes them ideal for moving personnel to higher levels at a job site. For example, scissor lifts can be used for cleaning hard-to-reach windows or can lift workers to an elevated area of the building.

2. Moving Materials

Along with moving workers up and down at the job site, scissor lifts can also be used to move materials to necessary locations. Raw building materials can be lifted for more efficient productivity and safety. It can also be used to lift signage and other items into place.

Scissor lifts are essentially designed to replace ladders, scaffolding, and towers that might be less accommodating, efficient, or safe. Visit us in Edmonton, AB, to learn more about how they work! We proudly serve Calgary and Red Deer, and we offer financing options.
